A neighbourhood restaurant, not fine dining. Just honest food, good wine, and a warm welcome.
Olive & Oak was opened by a couple with a shared love of seasonal New Zealand produce and the generous, communal spirit of Mediterranean cooking. The idea was simple: create a place where neighbours could gather around great food — not a formal occasion, just a really good meal.
We're in Herne Bay because this is our neighbourhood. We know the people who walk through our door, and we know the farmers, fishermen, and bakers who supply our kitchen. That connection is everything to us.
Our menu changes with the seasons because that's how food should work. When something's at its best, we cook it simply and let the ingredients speak for themselves. No tricks, no unnecessary complexity — just flavours that feel honest and satisfying.
We're proud to work with producers who care as much about quality as we do. Here are a few of the people behind our plates.
Seasonal vegetables and herbs, grown organically just north of Auckland.
Sustainably caught seafood from the Hauraki Gulf, delivered fresh daily.
Artisan sourdough and pastries, baked fresh every morning in Grey Lynn.
